Freddie jumping his 2nd double clear, just two more to go!

The first show of the holidays started well! We took Freddie and Rue to the Area 48 summer show where Freddie jumped his 2nd newcomer double clear, so he has 2 to go now! Rue also jumped the Newcomers and got her final clear to qualify her for Newcomer 2nd rounds next year, while also coming 6th and qualifying for scope in the progressive. Freddie was finished, but Rue wasn’t, her next class was the Foxhunter where we jumped a great double clear to finish 4th, not bad considering I lost my stirrup! This placing qualified her for the adventurer at scope, and her second double clear means she has also qualified for the restricted rider at scope. So a fab day of qualifications and double clears! Hmmmmmm, could the whole summer holidays be like this!?!?!? We’ll see! 🙂

16hours away!

Saturday was a mega long day. Mum and I left at 7 with Herbie to travel to Summer House Equestrian for a Discovery 2nd round. However he was looking around a bit so we had a pole. It wasn’t a waisted journey though, as Dad had followed us with Rue and Freddie. Rue jumped a great double clear to get 2nd and Freddie just had a pole in the jump off as I had brake issues. We then decided we would pop in to Wales and West to jump another Newcomers. However the ‘pop’ didn’t really work. We waited 3 hours before we jumped at 7.30! It was worth it though, as both ponies jumped double clears, This means Freddie has 3 left now!

Fab Weekend at Badgworth

Fab Weekend at Badgworth

It’s late I know, but hey! This sunday we took all 3 to Badgworth! Herbie came 2nd in the British Novice 2nd round and 5th in the Discovery, Freddie and Rue jumped well and just had poles in the jump off of the Newcomers and Rue came 6th in the Foxhunter. A very long, but successful day,

Meet Freddie

Meet Freddie

OMG, if I thought South View in Cheshire was a lot of driving, my perspective has been changed today.
Dad and I left at 5am this morning to travel to an area of Kent 4hours away to pick up the most ridiculous coloured pony possible. His name being Freddie. A couple weeks ago we ventured up to try him, but this journey wasn’t as bad ad it was broken up. To day, how ever we drove up, stayed about 45 mins getting him settled and asking final questions, before turning straight round and driving the exact route again! It was a long journey.
Freddie was very good and calm, he loved his new field, trotting round with glee when we couldn’t catch him to give him his dinner. He now has a head collar on!
I just can’t wait to get riding him and get him out jumping. 🙂

Finally!!

Finally!!

Finally I’m back in the saddle for real. Exams over and school has gone out the window! 😀 Today was a fabulous day at Bicton arena. Herbie was not on form and just had annoying faults. Where as Rue was flying! Not only did she win the Newcomers, zooming round with some crazy turns. But she won the Foxhunter by 10seconds. She was on fire today, I’m so pleased with her. She was one happy, bouncy pony! 😀 😀

Horse Quest Blog

Last night was a very exciting evening for silly reasons! Horse Quest have very kindly asked me to blog for them, so I now do, once a month.
They have recently got my blog up on their web site and Facebook.
If you’d like to take a look check out the Horse Quest website and click on ‘latest new and blogs’ and there I am!! Or alternately take a peek at their Facebook page! 🙂

Far and Near

Boy it’s been an action packed weekend, so much I have only just had a chance to write!
Saturday we left at 5am to trek down to Crofton Manor for another newcomers 2nd round. Sadly we didn’t qualify, but Rue jumped fantastically, getting into the 1st jump off again and having a couple poles. Although she did jump what has to be one of her nicest round to start off!
As we weren’t to late back and because Herbie didn’t get to come with us, we decided to take him to the Devon Area show which was being held at our local equestrian centre Bicton. Thinking that the 4th class would start around 12ish that was the time arrived, only to find they were on a go slow and hadn’t finished the first class. So we meandered around catching up with every one, only to be invited to the sponsors lunch by our friends. It was a lovely surprise and much tastier than the sandwiches we had prepared! We finally jumped at around 3pm! Herbie jumped so well but luck wasn’t on our side, we had a pole in the jump off of the discovery, other wise we would have won it, and the last fence in the newcomers. He jumped one of his best up till then, but he just caught site of some thing and took the pole.
All in all an incredibly tiring, but great weekend. Just a shame about the whole back to school thing today. 😦

One trailer, Two ponies, Three people and a Caravan!

Wow, it’s been a long weekend. It is safe to say Cheshire is the furthest and longest drive I have ever done! This weekend it was South View Equestrians pony premier show, and as there was a Newcomers 2nd round I convinced Mum and Dad to take me!
We left on Saturday morning as we were jumping Sunday and Monday. What lay ahead was a 6hour journey with a lot of traffic. Amazingly we didn’t get lost!
My first class on Sunday was the Newcomers 2nd round, it was a meaty 1.10 which was quite technical. Rue jumped a superb round to get into the 1st jump off. Sadly we had a couple poles in this round but it was about 1.20 which is bigger than we have jumped in the ring, and she did jump well so we were very pleased. On the same day Herbie jumped in the indoor ring, he jumped a fab Discovery double clear to come 9th out of over 80 and just had a pole in the newcomers.
Monday came with an unusual lie in, I jumped my first round on Herbie and 3pm! He jumped an even better round that the day before in the Discovery to finish 5th! And then had a stop (my fault) and a pole in the Newcomers. Rue didn’t perform as well at Sunday, having a pole in both the Newcomers and Foxhunter jump off, but we were working on getting her to drop her head, which is getting much better.

As it was so late on Monday we travelled back early Tuesday morning hoping to miss the traffic, but sadly we didn’t, for an hour we sat not moving any where, but after that we chugged home with out any problems!
